About the Role
A Senior System Engineer is required by our major investment banking client based in London. This is a very challenging and rewarding contract assignment for a System Engineer looking to deliver cutting-edge infrastructure solutions, and leverage their deep knowledge of trading operations platforms and low-latency systems.
The Senior System Engineer will play a central role across numerous projects and form part of the critical business operations function that is responsible for monitoring, security, automation, incident management, escalation management, and capacity planning.
As a Senior System Engineer you will have an extensive track-record working in enterprise Linux environments (RHEL and CentOS preferred), and have a strong understanding of low-latency trading systems and / or large-scale compute environments (CPU/GPU/xPU).
The Senior System will also have a strong inclination towards automation and Infrastructure-as-Code using tools such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible etc, and posses knowledge of storage systems technology based on Lustre, Weka, Ceph, Vast, PowerScale, DDN, MinIO etc
Requirements
Strong Linux Engineering skills ideally on low-latency trading platforms and / or large-scale compute environment
Knowledge capacity planning, scaling, and optimisation
Experience in server and network management, configuration, and troubleshooting with broad knowledge across server hardware, TCP, NTP, PTP etc
Knowledge of storage systems with exposure to technology inc. Lustre, Weka, Ceph, Vast, PowerScale, DDN, MinIO etc
Knowledge of hardware including CPU/GPU/xPU architectures
Interest in automation and IaC using Kubernetes, Slurm, Prometheus and Terraform or Ansible
Proficiency in scripting across Python and / or Bash
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or related)
Strong communication skills
Our client can offer an initial 6 month contract with a high likelihood of extension due to the start of an enterprise wide transformation programme planned for the next two years.
